obviously discarding the fact that the US is a major world and nuclear power and would fire us all to oblivion if the above event did happen, who would pick up arms and fight against the oppression?

nobody in the civilized world anyway. The cold hard fact is, nobody likes us because we're the biggest kid on the block. But when a time of need comes in the world, whether it be an invasion of an ally, or a natural disaster, the U.S. is always the largest contributor of aid and help.

Well, as an American, I'd be somewhat obliged to take your life if you tried it. Which is why I'm very glad to hear this is all hypothetical. I like our countries much better as allies!
