Fish that are now hiding that were previously active could be suffering from parasites. How are their colors? Are they eating? Can you see tiny white specks on them?

Tiger barbs are notorious for having Ick (Ich), and as a precaution I personally treat any tiger barbs in a quarantine tank for ick as soon as I bring them home.

Just a note, tiger barbs do really well in schools of six or more fish. If you are certain your fish are not sick buy two or three more (I'd go with 5 more, the bigger the school the better) and see if that helps with their shyness.

Tiger Barbs are weird fish... trust me, i had 5 of em and 1 for some reason was super aggresive. It killed all 4 in a couple of days. When I tried to net it out of the tank and replace it it tried hitting the net... Once i finally go it out it kept on splashing around and I got pretty pissed. I ended up giving it to a cousin that had other aggresive fish in the tank... It survived a couple of weeks too. Let those fish hide, its their nature... Get some new ones!

Sometimes this sort of behavior signals a problem with water quality,it's the first thing to check.

Wow...they are called names because they hide from you? Geez, given the title I thought they were harassing other fish...maybe they need new homes, huh? If you seem to hate them so much.
