A few people on here have argued in favour of military action to save our teacher.

Let's do it. She will be out in 8 days, so we have a week to assemble an invasion force, get to Sudan, find the prison, and find her head no longer attached to her body in retaliation, and Brits everywhere in the country rounded up into custody.

Doesn't sound so good now, does it?

Once the U.N. gets involved they will save her.

As I have said in answer to another question -

History I could be PC and say that the government is appearing to maintain a discrete distance from events in order not to inflame the situation, whilst pursuing all diplomatic means possible to resolve things, a bit like the swan scenario, all calm and serene on the surface but paddling like f**k underneath.

But hey, this is Friday night. I'm bored and had a few tipples of wine.

Gun boat diplomacy. That's what I say. Should never have given up the Empire then this sort of nonsense wouldn't be happening. Bring back General Gordon. He would have known what to do. A couple of battalions of Red Coats, complete with Pith Helmets and bayonets. That would have sorted them out. They don't like it up 'em Sir.

If they wanted to get her out, they could be a lot quicker. They have satellites pinpointing anything that interests them, and can have men in the area within hours. Funny how they didn't get Bin Laden, eh?
