About 15 years ago, (South Africa) the young generation, my daughter's age then, started to to what we call:- 'Urban Surfing'. The young guys would stand on the roof of a car, and balance on it, while another friend was driving
the car.

I saw a news item, reporting that the American kids are now doing it.

Unfortunately, a friend of my girls, decided to try it on a Restuarant train, that runs from Johannesburg to Pretoria and back. It was a bachelor party. He climbed out of the train window, onto the roof of the train, and hit one of the electric poles and wires, and thrown from the train. We knew the family, and it was the saddest funeral I have ever been too. One 'looking for a kick', always leads to more. Please warn you children and grandchildren?

This happened on our street corner a few years ago. A teenage kid was riding on the roof of the car, and the driver thought he'd be funny and slam on his brakes. The kid went head first into the pavement. He was in a coma for about 2 weeks, but luckily came out of it with no permanent damage of any kind. Fast forward to 2 years later...my wife and I were then raising two of our teenage neices (long story). One day the oldest neice brought home her new boy friend for us to meet. Guess who it was ? The dunder-head that took a swan dive a couple of years earlier. Small world.

That is all too sad. Thank you so much for the post, I will talk to grand daughter about this, hopefully her or her friends would try it. I just wish teens could think past the adventure.

I've read in the newspaper and seen on TV cases of young people who lost theirs being involved with horrible " sport".
Bless you and yours.
