The world is full of heartless jerks. Especially the corporate world. There is no reason except money, and money makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.

x-mas holidays? Don't you mean CHRISTmas? Well, in retail, that's when there are the most screw-ups, sometimes business is slow and the manager/owner has to cut a few people, or maybe the person decides to take advantage of the busy holiday and decides to steal items.

I worked in retail for many years and this is where many lay-offs happen. The sales are down, the holidays are over, the manpower is no longer needed and they need to down size. Many times the fiscal year comes in January and they need to cut down on the budget. It also depends on where you live, what jobs are in demand, the competition of those qualified and of course how the economy is going. Merry Christmas!

I always get laid off in January. It pisses me off because then I have several weeks of W-2s to worry about for more than a year, rather than spitting on them around the middle of April.

Also, if you get laid off in December, you still have time to cut back on Christmas spending. I loathe those jack*ss scrooges that wait until January. It only makes it worse, d*mnit!!!!!!

well i think people get laid off after the holidays, because lots of stores will hire tons of extra worker specifically for the holiday season, and then get rid of them afterwards.
