You sound like you are in a great position when it comes to applying for college. There are tons of options out there and I would actually recommend a public school because there will be many more opportunities for research with big names in the field, which will help in med school.

As for which school, I have to plug my alma mater, McGill University, in Montreal, Canada (www.mcgill.ca). It's a great school right in the heart of the most international city in North America. I gained a new perspective on the United States living up there and I am so glad I went. Good luck, where ever you end up!!

It's not in the east, but San Diego University is a great school, close to a lot of biomedical research facilities, and has great things to do all year long. There is also a terrific small private school in the Chicago area, Shimer College. It may or may not have pre-med but it's really one of a kind school with a very low student/professor ratio.

The one thing I would recommend to you is to make sure that you are at a school with great lab facilities, if you want to get into medicine and the sciences. I'm on the West Coast, so I'm not the expert on schools near Michigan, but for someone who wants to go to medical school, and who seems to be very capable in that area, that is absolutely essential. You might be able to get more ideas by going onto the College Board's website and using the College Matchmaker function. You can put in your qualifications and preferences, and it will give you a list of schools for which you might qualify.

I understand where you are coming from. Im in Ohio. and graduated a couple years back. not as adavanced as you but decent.:) It took me a little bit and then I still ended up going to another college before I went to the one that is right for me. That said make sure you go and vist them.

I suggest:
Univeristy of Dayton -very selective and urban. It's in Ohio.

Dennison Univeristy-col,oh. One of the best colleges and is one of the most selective in the midwest Jennifer Gardner went there.Private

Kenyon University-Ohio. always ranked in the princeton
review. Private

Hofstra Univeristy-Long Island NY- good acadmics- Private

I would look at princeton review and see what fits you.

I think for you Kenyon is good for pre-med.

I go to OSU and they have a great med school once you graduate.

I went to UCLA, whic has a good medical school, a great education even though it's not private (much cheaper), and is in a fun area in a big city. It sounds like you could get in wherever you want, so you really need to find out where the good medical schools are and then narrow that down by where you want to live. Have you looked into NYU?

How far away do you want to move?

Apply to several schools and so who will give you a scholarship. If your parents make less than.... I think $45,000 a year, and you're able academically, you can get a free ride to Yale. I think if it's less than $100,000, you get a substantial discount.

My point is, don't overlook very expensive schools if you don't come from a rich family.

I live in TN, and lots of people here want to go to Vanderbilt or Washington U. (in St. Louis) if they have good grades.

Of course, U. of M. is a great school. If you want to go somewhere warm, U. of Miami. Atlanta's a great city... you could apply to Emory.

Yes there a few schools where you'll take the ones varieties of categories, however they're customarily the group institution ones. four yr school ones require a variety, potentially cash to use, and essays. I had taken a cake adorning elegance as soon as at a group institution. And sure, I did meet my partner at institution. It used to be our freshman yr at Michigan State University. We are intended for every different!

no one can really tell you what college is best for you. and sometimes guidance counselors really suck at guiding you. the way i found the best college for me is to find a college search engine online. the Princeton review has been the most helpful for me. they give you a lot of options. p.s. picking the place where your going to be for the next four yrs should be a little fun. colleges are going to beg for you!!!
