I think I have only actually reported one the contents of which were not naughy or rude but obscene. I do not think in that case it was an interference with free speech. I might add that I have never done this for a question I have not agreed with

I don't know. I have reported four questions (in 6 months) because I found them to be extremely offensive and racist. I totally agree with free speech but think that people should at least respect the fact that other people have views and not call them offensive names. Debate is good, as is being controversial but tolerance is also important as is listening to other peoples views. No-one needs to be offensive to put their point across, maybe that's why they're reported?

Quite right me old pal, I was halfway through answering your last question about banning xmas when the inconsiderate sods cut you off.
Seems you just can't have a good old fashioned rant anymore without the anti kaftan brigade sticking their oar in!
Its enough to make you spit!
So to answer your previous question, my mother in law's coming round for xmas this year and I was wondering if your offer of six camels still stands?
No need to cancel the old yuletide celebrations, she does it for me every year!
I put tin tacks on the stairs but she keeps coming back.
Any chance we can close the deal in the near future?

No, it's not a violation of free speech. Freedom of speech only applies if the gov't is silencing you.
You participate on YA under their terms and conditions, which allow such behavior.
I don't like it either, but that's the way it is.

Yahoo provides the Answers forum, and is at liberty to set any rules it wishes. If people report a question in good faith because it violates TOS, there is no problem.

It's clearly stated in Yahoo!Answers community guidelines that this is Yahoo ANSWERS and not Yahoo DEBATE or Yahoo CLIMB-UP-ON-YOUR-SOAPBOX or Yahoo RANT.
In other words, if you post anything other than a clear and genuine question then you're in violation of the community guidelines, aka T.O.S.
