What is a period and why do we have them?
It's normal female biology! And, it's a major sign of physical maturity -- of becoming a woman.
VERY simply, a period is when a woman's body releases tissue it no longer needs. This tissue comes from the uterus, which is where a baby (fetus) develops in the female body. Every month or so, the uterus lining gets thicker. This is to prepare for a fertilized egg if the woman becomes pregnant. If the egg doesn't get fertilized, that lining is released from the body through the vagina. This is called menstruation.
So when a girl has her period she is not "bleeding"-- her body is just getting rid of a small amount of blood and some un-needed tissue. It is a natural, normal body process.

Well, I guess that means your pretty young.....
When you go through puberty (age varies but around 11-13) You shed an egg from your ovaries. You will have blood (period) about every 25-30 days. That's where the maxy pads and tampons come in to play.....

A woman bleeds out of her vagina... every month. And a couple of days before that happens, she is a total monster... crying... screeming.. whining... because she feels like a pumpkin who is about to explode... then when she finally gets her period she is not quite as moody but she is in HORRIBLE PAIN... she cries and aches and calls out sick from work because she is experiencing pain like being kicked in the nads every minute ALL DAY LONG even if she takes 5 ADVILS... you have NO IDEA!!! Then, for the next 5-7 days, she wears pants and goes to the bathroom a lot and when it's all over she is REALLY REALLY horny cuz she has not had sex in a week.

Between the ages of 10 and 14 most boys and girls begin to notice changes taking places to their bodies. These changes which take place over a number of years also include emotional changes and are sometimes referred to as puberty.
The changes take place in all boys and girls but they will start at different times. Generally the changes start later for boys than girls. In some people they start before the age of 10. Other people will only start to change after the age of 14. The changes also take place at a different rate in different people. In some people all the changes take place in 2 years. In other people they can take as long as 4 years.
Puberty starts when extra amounts of chemicals called hormones start to be produced in the body. These hormones guide the changes that take place in the body. As well as causing physical changes these hormones also cause emotional changes to occur.

it is when a womans body sheads the lineing of the uterus. This happens because when her body released an egg it did not get fertilized so the body does not need that lineing to keep a baby alive so it just comes out of her and that is her period.

well, it's a time in each girl's life, every single month, where you...well...you bleed out you're bottom half. you wear pads in your underwear and/or tampons up your canal to soak it all up. it lasts from about 2 to 8 days, depending on the girl, and is often refferred to as the menstrual cycle. girls start having it anywhere between the ages of 9 to 16.

Period is short for Menstrual cycle.
The menstrual cycle is under the control of the hormone system and is necessary for reproduction.
You can read more about puberty here:

I'm sure your mom would tell you if you asked her.
