The natural gas will erode the plastic sleeve inside a Flexi pipe. It is advisable to use copper pipe only.

If you have to ask, you might want to get a professional to do the installation. The type of hose you use depends on the installation requirements for your particular gas fire. Installation instructions must be followed precisely. If it calls for copper piping, you need to use copper piping. Although gas is generally run through iron pipe, not copper.

iv got my cooker on flexi but i think that because you have to keep pulling it in and out to clean behind of it. A fire wouldnt need that kind of maintainance, and Im guessing thats maybe the reason behind the normal straight pipe that is used behind a fire. I cant see any reason why the flexi would not be ok for a fire, but my advice to you would be to ask the gas board or a corgi fitter

You must be asking about installing a gas fire log or fireplace insert???. If you live in the country and have LP for your type of gas, then you can use flexible copper, usually with flared fittings. If you live in the city, or a rural area where you have natural gas to your home, then you'll have to use black pipe to get you close enough to the unit to hook in a accordian type flex line, they usually go up to 48", that will take you to the gas control valve. They're usually made of either brass or stainless steel.

check with your gas company. here you are not allowed to use copper. has to be black steel or flex line tubing. you should be able to get stainless steel flexible tubing at the hardware store. make sure you have the proper fittings and sizes. use soapy water to check for leaks after you are done.

IT DEPENDS WHERE YOU ARE PUTTING IT!
copper is better because it is weather ressistant!
bit if its not outside then,it depends on the distance you are running it and what you are hooking it up too!
