I'm insulted. I would tell you the truth twenty different ways before I would lie to you.

I think there are three types of political liars :
1) The Selfish Liar- He lies for no GOOD reason. He does it for personal gain at the expense of people he's trying to influence.
2) The "I'm Ultimatly Morally Right" Liar - He believes the end justifies the means. Since so many people can't see the truth by him using the truth, he makes up easier to understand lies to accomplish what he believes is a morally justified outcome.
3) The "I Use Lies To Combat Lies" Liar - He believes it's justified to counter the negative effects of lies from his opposition by making up his own lies about the opposition.

How could a bunch of liars give an honest answer, if you are referring to politicians its easy, if they ever told the truth they they would not have a job, if you are talking about people on here, i keep trying to get the democrats to explain the same thing.

to get votes people have to hear what they want to hear and the fact that we are a sound byte society as long as there is a sound bite that fits what you want to hear you will side with them NO MATTER if they have said the exact opposite before. Honest people are ran out of politics by the liars attacking them. Isnt politics great.
by the way its been going on forever. i saw an Alexander Hamilton election brochure that said if someone he was going up against was elected death and famine would destroy the country.

A political candidate who says "My fellow Americans, we are nine trillion dollars in debt and you each owe the government $30,000. When can we make arrangements for you to pay?" won't get very far.
If we had a responsible news media who would force politicians to give straight answers to questions, things would improve. I noticed at the debate Wolf Blitzer never insisted that the candidates answer what was asked.

Because most politicians become selfish and mad with power.
They begin to do what they want and choose not to pay close attention to the will of the people who elected them.

Honestly? Most people would rather have their heads in the sand than to hear the truth.

Because telling the truth doesn't make you look cool. Hence, the success of Rush Limbaugh and the fact that Bush is still in office.
