I had a baby 8 months ago by way of c-section. I had the normal bleeding afterward and then a normal period up until September. Now my period is just dried blood, sometimes lasting 2 weeks. I don't know why this should be happening, not that I'm complaining...I rather enjoy the lighter, pain free cycle. BUT, this may have something to do with the fact that I tore my stitches open after the c-section and it is just now causing damage? If anyone knows something or has any info, please let me know. I am trying to avoid the doctor right now because I"m in between jobs and my insurance hasn't kicked in.

I can understand the reservation of going to seek medical attention because of your financial status but your health is never something that you put in jeopardy. I don't think that it is an emergency room situation but surely you need to go to a doctor and get checked out as soon as possible and then figure out how to take care of your bill....there are always payment options out there for indigent patients.

I could be wrong and I'm not a professional so don't sue me but if it were me I would just wait it out a few more months.
I have had periods like that for a few months in a row and I was alright.
If you think you must go to a Dr. see if you have a local county clinic or low income clinic. They are not the most fun to go to but when you can't afford the regular Dr. it sure helps the pocket.

I suggest that you visit your ob/gyn. Yes its great that your periods are lighter and pain free...but....you may want to know if you are ovulating to either prevent or plan another pregnancy at this time. Or if you plan to have more children later and something is going on that can be easily corrected now, instead of waiting till it becomes difficult to treat....you will absolutely hate yourself if somewhere down the line you cant get pregnant because you ignored a problem now. If you are concerned about insurance, check with the health department or planned parenthood which may offer lower cost exams...or even your original ob/gyn...they may be able to work with you on the costs.

Dried up blood? Does it look like black coffee grounds? If so, then you need to go to a doctor. If there's no pain or anything, then try drinking more water.

you should see a doctor especially since you just had a baby. If you go to a free clinic you may have to wait long, but you won't have to save up for extra funds

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you haven't seen the doc yet.. but then again I'd probably delay myself (and see if it goes naturally) if I wasn't in pain at all.

I don't get the deal with insurance? Edit with more information, I'm interested? We get free health service in Britain

it wouldn't be from tearing stitches 8 months ago. so you should be fine as far as that goes (i'm assuming the incision closed again). you could always call your doc and ask, tell her/him your insurance situation and see if they can just give you some advice.

Go to the county hospital, they can't turn you away and can generaly make arrangments about paying and will also generaly greatly reduce the cost.
