I was always told that I had American Indian, English, French, and Irish. But when I did a family search on rootsweb, I discovered that I was 1/2 Scottish and 1/2 English.
Many others have discovered that they had no American Indian. This is because in the old days you could get some cut or other on you land taxes so everyone told the story about the
"grandmother who was an Indian princess". They didn't have to prove it, just claim it. Those tales got carried down as fact because of old family records, etc.

I am German on my fathers side and only a second generation. My grandparents came to America to escape Nazi Germany.

On my Mom's side I'm a mix: English, Irish, Scotish, Welch and Canandian and more German. :)

I'm proud of my heritage but I've always wanted to be a lot more.... and, as far as I know, I have none of the Asian, Latino, Native American or African races running through my veins. Bummer.

It's no wonder I can't get a decent tan!
