I really hate this time of year, I can't stand going to stores and seeing people with their manufactured smiles on their dullard faces.

You are not alone. Many people feel the same as you do.
Doesn't make you right to feel that way (and doesn't make you wrong either).

You have to find out why you feel that way. If it is something that you don't like about yourself, then you could change it. If not, then at least you'd know why you feel that way.

The celebrations that go on at that time of year came into being because it was a time when people did feel bad: in Northern latitudes, days were short, cold and miserable; fresh food was missing and there were indications that food would soon be insufficient or turn bad.

Then, around what we call December 25, there would be signs that the nights stopped getting longer and that days would begin to grow longer again. People celebrated that.

In the 4th century, the Roman-based Christian Church decided to appropriate the celebrations and turned them into a celebration of the birth of Jesus. We inherited that type of holiday (i.e., Christmas) but the need to celebrate at that time of the year comes from thousands of years before that.

Ok, I have a lot to say. 1st peoples smiles arent manufactured. I think that most peole are happy because they are having a good time and Its christmas Time. 2nd, why be so down about other people. You dont know them and you can just not like someone becasue they smile and have a good time and you dont. I really think that you just need to hcear up. Theres no use of being so depressed. If you dont know how to do that here are some things that will help you out.
-get a penpal
-join clubs and groups
-(not being mean im serious) getting counseling
-spend time with family and friends
-go places and have fun
-have a good outlook and be optimistic
-help disabled people. As you see them improve and get excited as you come to help you might feel better about yourself

I hope I helped I hope that you feel better!

Buying things is not what is making these people happy. The idea that Christmas is coming is the source of all the joy. They are happy because they are getting something for someone special to them, and that item signifies that they are thinking about the person it's for. It's a time to celebrate family, friends, and bf's/gf's. Don't look at those people as though they are only thinking about the item they are getting. Look at them, and be happy that we all have something special in our lives that we can celebrate.

You're probably sad or depressed. You should be happy! Put a smile on your face. So that you wouldn't mind seeing happy people. Last yr I was depressed and I hated it when I see my sister so happy and she would tell me all the happy things that happened to her and I wouldnt bother listen to her. But now I am happy so when my sister or someone is happy it doesnt bug me nomore.

You have to start singing a merry tune my friend. I know some sales people can be overbearing and obnoxious at times; but who cares. They are nobodies. Move on. Enjoy every minute of every day.
