Sounds like your first period to me. You can spot red or brown. It can be short or long. Regular or irregularly for the first few years.
Once you start puberty a white and/or clear discharge is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Read more here: http://www.kotex.com
Different Types of Discharge:
White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.
Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.
Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.
Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.
Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.
Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

Congratulations! You are having your period for the second time.
When you first start out, it can be just a little bit of menstrual fluid and it is very common to have brown blood (old blood - perfectly normal from the uterus).
Stringiness is cervical mucus. Also very normal. You'll notice it more because you only have a little blood mixed with it.
Menstrual fluid isn't really like normal blood you see when you cut yourself. It has lots of other stuff in it. Small clots, mucus and brown stuff is all normal. How much fresh blood is mixed in with that other stuff will vary on different days of your period. You will probably have more fresh blood as you mature.
Try not to freak out :-). Tell your mom or trusted adult so that they can fix you up with sanitary protection. Just swallow your embarrassment and say "Mom, I started my period".

It sounds like you got your first period! Welcome back to the age of using diapers again! Ha ha ha. You get some fiberish and clotty stuff in your period sometimes, and its sometimes bright red and others more brownish... its just the left over pieces of uterine lining that fall off. Not a big deal. Just make sure you wear pantylines "about" that time of the month (You can usually calendar about 28 days or so apart until you get used to your individual cycle) , so when it does come, you don't ruin your underwear. And if it doesn't come regularly, that's not a big deal either. I got my period when I was 9, and I wasn't completely regular until I was 12... when I started taking the pill to lessen my cramps and help with acne.

Lucky you I started my period at 11, However unlike you mine started full blast with horrible cramps, heavy bleeding that lasted for eight days or longer. My sister however started hers later and her's was a lot like your's. After a coulpe of months her's regulated, and she's never had a heavy period. If after a coulpe of months your's doesn't seem to regulate it's self, I would go see your doctor though.

it's the beginning of your period starting, wear a panty liner for protection,it will soon become like a normal period, you'll get this every 25-35 days as you become more regular, the beginning is different with every girl but don't worry about it,all us girls go through it differently
