Looks like you might be snookered....who were the retailers...put it on then at least the rest of us will know....seems like a little earner to me.....go to the local paper and get it publicised....or at least tell the Supermarket manager that that is what you are going to do....

Write to their head office for the attention of the finance director. Explain what has happened and ask for an investigation. Copy the letter to your bank and the local trading standards office. If that doesn't work write to every member of the board and ask them what they think about condoning fraud in their shops.

It will be their word against yours. On signing or entering your chip and Pin surely you would have noticed the amount in total and whether their was a cash back on the receipt. You also had a second opportunity on delivery which Apperently you did not take.A debit card payment is not reversable by the Bank and it looks as though you will have to accept the shops decision.

This scam goes on all the time, if you remember the girl on the checkout try sending another member of the family through, see if she tried again, although this time if she asks to keep hold of the receipt refuse and call the management.
This goes on more than people realise always check your receipts.

A country with the capital Reykjavik springs to mind!
If this transaction involving cash back took place the bank has an automatic time and place receipt when the transaction took place.
They will know that two separate transactions took place and your case is proven!

i don't know how the UK works, but here in the United States we don't sign a CC slip without verifying the amount. I wouldn't walk across the street without a receipt. I doubt anything can be done, you don't even have a receipt!

This is fraud!
Please inform your bank and request the supermarket hold on to all relevant security tapes so the police investigation, that might make them see the error of their ways!
