I recently began taking birth control, my first pill was on November 11th. I have never taken bc before, so I'm a little new to all of this. During the time I have been taking the pills, I've never had any spotting or break through bleeding. Today, I noticed some browny colored discharge. I don't think it was blood or anything, it looked more like discharge just not the normal color. On Sunday I begin taking the placeboes in my pack of pills. I feel like I somewhat have menstrual cramps at the moment. So I am wondering, is this related to the fact that I will be getting my period soon, or is it break through bleeding or spotting? Again, this is my first month taking the pill, never been late or missed any pills.

Thanks!

Until the hormones in your body level out you may have this problem. This can last up to 3 months depending on which bc you are taking and how strong the doses are. break through bleeding and spotting are very normal with bc. I would only worry if you begin to soak through a pad in an hour. then call your doctor. This is completely normal. It should correct itself soon.

Your body is just getting use to the fact of the pills. Your period might not be on the exact days/week the pill is suppose to be on depending on how long your body takes to get adjusted to the birthcontrol. Once its regular it should stop doing that but the first month or so it might spot a bit.

Honestly, talk to your Doctor he would probably be better able to answer your question. Not all people are the same and any abnormalities in that area should not be taken lightly. Most problems caught early can be cured. Get youself out of the habit of delaying medical visits or dismissing possible problems or asking the wrong persons. Develope a relationship with you gynocologist now! It not it may cost you your life. Your choice.

It's your period.

In the pack of pills, you'll get your period on the third placebo usually (for a 28 day cycle pack) or sometime during that row.

I have had that before too. I think it's pretty normal. Your period might actually be light or not at all. Since you are changing the hormones in your body you might have some strange spotting until your body gets used to it.
