i am only 8 weeks pregnant and already i have put on 10lb and gone up a size in the waist. i know all pregnancies are different but is it normal to show this early? it all seems to be in the stomach
also my partner told me last week that twins run in his family could this be a reason for getting big early
if anyone can share with me their pregnancy experiences and when you started to show. thanks

i havent even seen a midwife yet thats on the 6th december. i only eat 2 meals a day, lunch and dinner. lunch is always salad and dinner is usually pasta or veg, i have gone off everything sweet so dont think it is to do with diet but not sure.
hopefully the midwife will have a better idea but still interested in others experiences to keep answering

Twins have to run through the maternal genetics - so your husband having twins in his family does not increase those odds. I showed early with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy. My doctor said it was because your uterus expands in preparation for the baby. Lots of people gain weight early - watch your calories - eat small meals and take your prenatal vitamins. You don't want to gain too much when you are pregnant - you will hate yourself afterwards. Even if it is twins they would be so small at 8 weeks they wouldn't even weigh close to a pound together.

I had gained 10 lbs my first 10 weeks too. I was concerned and my doctor told me its probably because of the diet I was on due to the nausea. And once I thought about it, really the only thing I could eat at that time was bread and crackers. That explained all the weight gain. It topped out though. I'm 25 weeks now, and have gained 27 lbs so far. I feel like a whale, but am showing and she's 1 1/2 lbs and big enough to kick the tar out of me... so its all on track.

I wouldn't worry yet about the weight gain. It seems normal to me.

I started showing that early. At 8 weeks I had gained 8 pounds. I was already in maternity clothes because my other ones did not fit. Then I seemed to stay the same size for over a month. I only had one baby and she only weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. I had gained a total of 55 pounds, but I lost 60 afterwards.

it could be twins.i gained weight like that with my 17 month old. at the end of my pregnancy i gained 50 lbs and kept 40, so be very careful and my son was only 7lbs 3 ounces. it seems like i stayed hungry at the beginning and could not get full. I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant and this time it's not much weight being gained, but i still have to recover and lose the 40 plus 15 I've gained this pregnancy.

i dont understand why you would gain that much so early. at 8 weeks the baby is still very tiny like the size of a nut. So maybe you are just not eating right. Do not eat for two.

Could be twins. Have an ultrasound done to confirm it. I"m almost 19 weeks and have put on 12 pounds.

Twins are a BIG possibility! I've had 3 kids, and I never gained that fast! Good luck!
