My mum cried when James Stewart died. I think I would've done too if I was a bit older at the time.

Yeah I cried when Steve Irwin died. I think about 99% of all Australians cried when they found out he had died. One of the greatest Australians to have ever lived. I remember I went to his zoo a few years ago, while he was still alive, and he had done such a superb job with that zoo. You could just tell that every single animal was looked after as best as possible. R.I.P Steve

Good question =)

I cannot say that I have at least at this time I cannot recall crying when a famous person has passed on. I guess the reason that I don't is because I really do not get caught up in their lives or follow any one that closely. I have cried when someone close to me has passed away and in my eyes they were famous to me but, I do not think your question was referring to my non-famous family members. Anyway, I hope that answers your queston for you.

Peace,
DC

Princess Diana. When I heard the news, I threw myself in my husband's arms and sobbed on his shoulder.

And River Phoenix. I wanted to see how his career would continue over the years, he was such a good young actor with so much promise. Then I heard it on the news, that he had died, I gasped. I cried about twice in the following days.

That's it.

I don't remember crying over someone famous dying. Watching Ayrton Senna die was the closest I came, but it was more of a disbelieving numbness. It's the unfamous people who die in tragedies like 9/11, Lockerbie, the Challenger explosion, etc, that get to me more. I think because it's closer to home in a way... ordinary people living their lives, just like I do... sure, I remember very clearly where I was when Diana died, because it was such a big wrench for so many of us, but for me it's the "there but for the grace of God go I" factor.

I have not, but my mom cried when Princess Diana died... and my friend just visited Graceland for the 1st time and she of course cried for Elvis.
I would cry if John Travolta or Kenny Chesney died.

**Update -- I forgot about Steve Irwin, someone below mentioned him... I DID cry when he died. That was so unexpected and awful !!!
