What were the successes and failures unions experienced in the early 1900s?

initially, the unions did not have a lot of success,because of opposition by the Business owner, and in the government.
The gains, when they started to come were very small, and grudgingly given.

Once the owners got the idea that labour organizations were not going to go away, they began to accomplish such things as work practises, shorter work hours,(40) hour week, and

seniority rights.These rights came at a very high cost, and many union organizers were beaten, threatened, and in some cases murdered.
