yes, the smallest amount of that stuff is invaluable... you might not feel like he is getting anything, but he is!

keep it up!

Yes!! Colostrum is rich in fat, which fills the baby up faster. You'll be nursing every 2-3 hours, though.

You're not only doing what's best for your baby, it's so much cheaper and easier doing what nature intended than was society dictates. No dirty bottles, midnight mixing, and you can fall asleep while your baby feeds.

yes, it took me about 4 days to actaully get my son to latch on right or even nurse- i never once supplemented and hes a healthy 18 pound 7 1/2 months old. he did lose a little weight ( about 9 ounces) at first but that is normal. newborn breastfed babies cna lose anywhere from 6- 10% body weihgt and it's considered normal as long as they are back to their birth weight by week 2- trust me- it is hard AT FIRST but after about week 2-3 you will be so much more confident about it. it is also normal for brestfed babies to feed every 30 min to every 3 hours- the more you baby feed the more milk you will make

Yes. When I started breast feeding I had a really hard time and I wasn't sure that I was doing it right. The nurses told me that I needed to relax and let the baby take the lead. Apparently he knew what he was doing even though I didn't. Good luck.

Yes, just continue giving him, you will be relief of the pain after some time. My boy is 11 months today and breasfed him for 9 months, it was difficult at the initial stage but I was so happy at the end that I stick to it and my baby is so healthy.

Hope this answered your question.

Yes, definitely. Just stick with it, the hardest part is the first six weeks. After that, you'll be so glad you did it! Trust me! I've done it 3 times and am still nursing my 22 month old (by choice for both of us, of course).

Yes. My second daughter had a hard time latching on. It helps if you kinda pinch your breast. This will make it easier for him/her to latch on. It gets easier, stick with it. Breastfeeding is a great way to bond with your child.

Oh, and congrats on the new baby.

yes, just keep at it....your milk will come in...drink something everytime you sit down to nurse.....iced tea is good. You can even drink a beer everyday, because the yeast in the beer will help make milk. I even took Brewer's yeast tablets I bought at the health food store...recommended by the midwife I used for the birth...I nursed my daughter for 13 months and had alot of milk.....and I pumped for the babysitter. good Luck...the more you nurse the more milk you will produce, eat a good diet and get plenty of fluids to drink.

I thought of something else, if your nipples get sore..get vitamin E capsules..pop them open and rub on the nipple, the vitamin E will not hurt the baby. I have also seen it sold just the oil in bottles at the health food store.

If your baby is latched on properly, then the baby shouldn't have any problem

Just make sure the baby has wet diapers and poos during the day...

If you have trouble with breast feeding... I'd go see a lactation consultant.

Good Luck

yeah of course but colostrum is only produced for the first few days and while it has great antibodies in it, its also great antibodies in the milk too.

Yes. Stick with it! It's a little tough at first, but it will work out and be totally rewarding for both you and your baby.
