Solstice tree decorations should be reminiscent of nature or - preferably - should represent the sun, so think of things along those lines. We have done: pinecones rolled in glue and glitter, store-bought balls (red and yellow) decorated with glue then rolled in glitter, salt-dough ornaments in the shape of suns, painted and dried, oranges spiked with cloves then tied with ribbons (also a great gift to give), paper stars, snowflakes, etc. Tie bunches of holly with red ribbon. String garlands of cranberries and popcorn (time consuming...may want to leave this to the adults). Nuts can be spray-painted gold and glued to styrofoam balls, then tied with ribbon. And don't forget a big, golden star for the top of your tree! Happy Solstice to you!!!

We love to make Pentagrams out of twigs. Gather some twigs and cut some pieces that are all about the same size. You can tie them together, or use a glue gun to join the ends together in the shape of a pentagram. They are wonderful on the tree. You can make larger ones to hang in the window or doorway too.
Feel free to add any pine cones, holly, etc. as you choose!

Beaded snowflakes are a good one. Very simple to do, especially if you use the pre-made wire forms. All you need to do is either glue the last bead to the form, or use a pair of pliers to make a little loop at the end to hold on the beads.
