No, not anymore. Now, I think that it's more important to be understood than to be intimidating. And yes, I caught myself going out on a limb with a word which meaning I wasn't sure of.....
When I was younger, I wanted people to know that they were talking to an educated person so I pulled out my repertoire of thesaurus words. But now, since I'm older, the content of what a person says is more important.

I use "big" words all the time. But not to impress. It's just because I know them and I use them. It usually annoys the
h ell out of my family and friends.
