An individual dollar bill is also less formally known as a one, a buck, a single, a smackeroo, a clam, a simoleon, a bone, a greenback, a bill, a dead president, a paper, or a dollar. The term greenback dates back to 1861[1] (from Demand Notes) as the nickname for the green side of money.
