I dont think that is the right answer, I agree that Sharia Law is medieval and outdated but we dont want to be as bad as they are!I am a teacher of 20 yrs experience and if the lady was teaching in a Muslim country she should have realised that naming a bear Mohammed would cause problems!!

I am glad that she has escaped the whipping and hope she is allowed to come home soon.

I see someone mentioned the "Aid".
Did you know that Khartoum distributes the aid which is sent into the country.
The south of the country see little or no aid because they are mainly christian. The Sudannese government will supply aid to them but only if they convert to Muslim.

How many Muslims in this country use British bank accounts?

Under sharia law, they are not allowed to lend or borrow money for profit. How many Muslims run off licences or visit brothells?

They should all be returned to the Muslim countries from which they are descended. They can then continue their beheadings and stonings to their hearts content but they should never be allowed to leave their borders again to spread their poison on the civilised world.

Instead of going off at halfcock, something needs to be said. When teaching in a foreign country one needs to be aware of local sensibilities. The teacher involved is no spring chicken and should have realised that this name might create problems.
I've taught in Hong Kong, (Chinese and Vietnamese), India and Switzerland (to multi-cultural classes) and if you want your pupils/students to learn something, then you try not to offend the parents or the students.
The reaction maybe extreme, but the fault lies with the teacher.

No, it would do more harm than good.

There are some 30 million muslims in Sudan, 3/4 of the population. Out of those, 1000 turned out in protest against her, so it clearly is either not so important to most ordinary Sudanese, or they don't even know about the case.

I think they know harming her is not acceptible and would cause problems for Sudan, which is why they chose a lenient sentence.

ROBERT - sending in troops to get her out is a daft idea. Military action could CAUSE them to harm her, and any other Brits in that country. And she should be out in 10 days, so how do you propose to get a task force into Sudan in just 10 days?
