I haave personnal reasons to prefer the theatre of Dionysos in Athens. But apart from my personal reasons, its history and art is far more important than Epidauros, which is much newer.

I agree that the theatre of Dionysos is more important because of its history and location, under the Akropolis. But I think that the theatres of Dononi and Philippoi as also very important.

I have to agree with the one above. When you step your foot there you can't believe how people built something like that so many years before with no help from modern equipment and you highly doubt that the acoustics are that good. But they ARE!!We went there a few years back on a school trip. The guide asked us to sit wherever we wanted to.Naturally we all took the higher possible seats(to be as far away as possible from the guide). She tried many things(reciting a poem, talking, laughing) and of course we could all hear it perfectly. But what got me the most is she,at one moment, just began to breath heavy and after wards whispering...we could hear it all!!!Amazing,it's an experience i will never ever in my whole life forget.I fell proud to be a Greek at that moment :)
