I have thought about this a lot being an avid Beatles fan. I want to think that Chapman was a disturbed man who really wanted to be someone for killing Lennon. But I can't shake the feeling that he was motivated by some outside influence to do so. All I hope is that he NEVER gets out of prison.

I guess there is some reasoning why someone would want to plot to kill Lennon, but I've never heard too many real evidences for it.

Compared to the other assassinations of the century, it has very little to work with in the way of evidence for a plot.

Chapman was a total nut. As I recall, John Lenno wasn't that far behind him. Who knows? It was 27 years ago.

The truth is pretty much what you've read --- he was an obsessed nut who lost it. There's nothing more to it than that.
