with some friends...what is there to do other than the typical river center mall and riverwalk?

Don't stay downtown. Go get the weekender in Friday's newspaper available at the Express or a Valero and read about all the weekend happenings. Oh, yeah, the Christkindl Market has a German craft market day at the Beethoven on Pereida in Southtown with a Santa on Saturday. He's my dad. Tell him hello for me. And Saturday evening if the weather is nice, go to LaTuna...good fun and music in the evening.

I like the Missions and the Aquaduct. If you like onion rings, the best ones I ever had was at a place called Sam's. and the hamburgers weren't bad either. Trendy sorta with the garage door thing, menu on blackboard, lots of beer lights and a wide variety of patrons. It's just out of where the Alamo is just off Broadway. Go online and see what's happening that interests you or go to a travel bureau and get their Texas Travel Book and it lists many places. I want to see the Christmas lights on the River Walk. I was supposed to go this week but ended up baby sitting my niece's chihuahua while she's in SA. There's all kinds of places to go, just depends on what you like. Best advice:take a map and find gas before you need it. There's also an obscure rescue place and they have ligors (lion, tiger mix), all types of cats, bears, monkeys, small with a very short tour. Can't remember the name but it was in something I found to do at my first motel.

Good freakin luck getting a hotel room with the football match in town--- hope you booked ahead. If you have wheels get out of downtown and go for a hill country wine tasting trip--- big fun-- go to Luckenbach for a mid-afternoon kick back and have dinner at Rudy's BBQ on the way back to the hotel. Have fun, SA can be great---- definitely go to Durty Nellies for the final stop of the evening. Bring a sense of humor and drop the need for personal space. yeeee ha
PS--- bypass the Alamo - one drive-by will do ya !
