How about you make sure grandma is 'all there' and can really afford to do that. Talk to your parents if they're still around. Talk to her caregivers if there are any, and maybe participate in her next doctor visit. See if there's anything you should know before you blow a large sum of dough like that. You wouldn't want to feel guilty in a few weeks if you find out grandma has some issue and either didn't mean to or really can't afford to do that for you although I'm sure she'd love to very much.

If it's indeed something you can keep, I would absolutely invest it.

good luck,
Marianne

Invest it. you may be counting on inheriting big but you never know what can happen in the long term. Or better yet give it to a cause that you care about. If you don't know of any I do. Your Grand parents will like that you are generous too.

I know you want to spend it, but think of your senior years when you will be older and very gray. Social Security will not be enough to live on. Put it away where it will draw interest over the years. Maybe somewhere where you will not be tempted to spend it.

If she has money to give away, I bet she knows where to invest it or save it for the future. How about giving her a call.

She probably meant to write $400.00 or even $40.00. She's old right? So her vision & hand writing is shaky. I'd double check w/ her on the amount. Unless you are related to the Hiltons. It's not even Christmas yet, so maybe she wanted you to pay her water bill, LOL

Why don't you do something productive with it, since there are starving and sick people out there and donate half of it to charity, and put half in a savings account for college.

Donate half to charities & shop with the other half. For charities, I'd lean toward helping animal charities. :)

Save at least half and then get some big items such as a TV or new furniture. Like they always say, don;t spend it all in one place! Happy Shooping :)
