Christina Aguilera is featured on the cover of Marie Claire pregnant, and in the article that accompanied the picture she told fans about how she wanted to get pregnant but after her latest tour.

She stopped taking birth control to "prepare her body for pregnancy" and she got pregnant right away! :).

The pill is 99.9% accurate, and use of a condom makes it nearly impossible to get pregnant (although rips or tears in the condom and lapse of that 00.1% on a fluke could lead to pregnancy).

The whole idea of a birth control pill is to stop pregnancy. Stop taking the pill and you will get pregnant. It doesn't matter how long you have taken it. My wife took the pill for years from the age of 18 to 25. She stopped and got pregnant within a month.

By taking a contraceptive pill AND using a condom does two things. Firstly it doubles the protection against pregnancy and secondly helps, by use of the condom, in preventing sexually transmitted diseases. Other than a vasectomy for the guy there's nothing much safer. DO NOT rely on methods such as the catholic 'rhythm method'. That doesn't work and just makes more catholics. Neither should you rely on 'withdrawal' . Sperm can often be released before ejaculation and cause pregnancy. To reassure yourself why not visit the Family Planning clinic and talk to the people there. They'll give you the best advice about which method is for you.

Safest way is not having sex at all, but I am pretty sure you know that already.

Yes it is best for a guy to wear a condom as well as the girl using birth control.

I know plenty of people who didn't get pregnant until they were ready and had been using birth control for over 10 years. I've used it for almost 12 years and haven't had one doctor tell me I'm sterile. Now when you stop taking it after a long period of time, you may get pregnant right away or it may take time. That can happen whether you on birth control or not.

Yes and no. It will take a while for your body to regulate itself afterwards. It took me about 2 years (been on the pill for 15 years), and my friend about 1 year before getting pregnant. Another friend of ours, practically got pregnant the minute she stopped taking birth control (she thought it would take a while, so starting trying immediately). How long it will take for your body to regulate itself is very much dependant on your body.

It doesn't prevent you from getting pregnant later in life or make it any harder to conceive, but it may delay the process a bit. But then again, is it that important that you get pregnant the minute you and your significant other decide to have a baby? Or the the whole process of trying to conceive a worthwhile experience that most people long for?

In regards to choices, I think your option is the safest way around. Stick with it.

No, it is not true.

The condom/pill combination would be safe. There are failure rates for every form of birth control, though.
