I'm not sure about that.

Yes....no baby no child support. So what's up with the father? You are only 3 1/2 months pregnant and he is gone already? I'm sure he is going to want proof that the baby belongs to him and that will have to wait until the baby is born. Good luck to you and the baby.

Its been many years since I had to go through this, but, I am pretty sure if you go to the Department of Children and Families office in your area, you can file for AFDC.
This support that comes before the baby is born.

At that time, they will ask who the father is, and they will go after him for the support of the child.

They will take care of everything and guide you in what you need to be doing.

Possibly, if he denies the child, then after the baby is born, they will do a DNA test.

After they determine he is the father, he then will have to pay back any AFDC you received while pregnant.

Yes, even if the father owns up to the child. You can skip the paternity test then , but the baby needs a social security number in order for the papers to be filed.

Well, technically I think you can file the paperwork before you have the baby, but if anyone wants a paternity test, they'll have to put everything on hold until after the baby is born. Or if you have an amnio done, they can determin the father from the amniotoc fluid.

I don't know for a fact, but I would suspect that you might be able to set all the wheels in motion to get child support, but you won't actually receive any child support until the child is born. I don't believe you will receive any benefits related to your prenatal care.

And, I suspect that even getting the "wheels in motion" will be difficult until paternity can be established...and that probably can't happen until the child is born. When all else fails, contact your local department of Children's Services and ask them what is appropriate for your locale.

Ummmm yeah....you may have to do a paternity test also! There are free services out there to help you while your pregnant, if you need it. After the child is born the father may want his paternity proved. Well good luck.

Yes, and if the father denies paternity, you'll have to get DNA testing to prove he is the father before pursuing Child Support.

I live in Texas and I had to wait until my baby was born. I had all ready gotten the paper work and had it ready to mail the very next day..in fact I mailed it on the way home from the hospital.

Um yes, you could still loose it, you aren't supporting it yet and you will have to prove who the Father is and you only get to ask for support if you go to court! Having a kid just to get money coming in wasn't such a good idea huh?

Don't listen to people that say you are a money grabber......not like you made this baby on your own!

If you are looking for support prior to the birth....I believe you are entitled to it....not sure how you go about to get it.

I imagine if you are getting any type of Stat assistance....the State would help get that support. If you are on your own....look into a family law attorney.
