I have been a mom for 28 years and used child care in the early days of parenthood. I have also been providing child care in my home for the last 20 years. From both perspectives, I suggest you don't limit yourself based solely on location. I would, instead, contact and visit child care options both close to your home, close to your work, and everywhere in between. The deciding factor will be which facilities have infant openings (often harder to come by as most states limit the number of infants to child care workers, 2:1 ratio for home child care providers in our state). You will also want to pick a facility that is most in keeping with your style of parenting as well as one that you feel comfortable with. Both closer to home and closer to work have their pros and cons. If you have many good facilities to choose from, don't let location be your most important factor in deciding.

My husband and I went through this dilemna. We ultimately decided to get something closer to the house for a couple of reasons:
1. Mornings are more hecticand we can get the baby there earlier close to the house.
2. I live in Brooklyn and work in Manhattan, about a $150 difference per week in day care charges
3. The thought of taking the baby on the train every morning and exposing him to more germs than necessary was not a good thought
4. I work about 45 minutes from the day care but my hubby can be there in 20-25 minutse
5. Hospital is very close to the daycare.
Hope this helps.

I would go with a place that is close to your work. It just seems that would make more sense if you had to leave work early if the baby was sick. Of course, on the other hand, you may enjoy that 45 min ride to work and get some alone time too. I have friends that do it both ways and each claims their way is the best. I'm 36 weeks right now and luckily I work 10 min from my home, but I'm going 20 min out of my way for childcare to have someone in my family watch my son. I personally would go with the place close to work, it's going to be hard enough to leave them with anyone!! Good Luck

nicely i think of having it on the threshold of your activity is a superb concept through fact confident, you will get there in case of an emergency. yet additionally, daycares would close at a undeniable time. case in point in case you get off artwork at 5:30 and the day care closes at 6:00 nicely then you definitely basically have a million/2 an hour to p.c.. up your infant. You wouldnt be waiting to make it to an afternoon care close to residing house in the journey that your house is 40 5 minutes away. The quickest you would be able to desire to be there is 6:15 and you'd be monetarily penalized for being previous due. additionally, confident it is smart and severe-high quality to have one greater 40 5 minutes to bond including your infant on my own daily, two times an afternoon. yet it fairly is in simple terms my opinion.

Personally I would get child care somewhere close to you work just in case, God forbid, something might happen you're already close to the center.

I did closer to work because I found a really good babysitter. But, it works out good for doctor's appointments and convenience for me closer to work.
