Do I qualify to answer this question if the only American comedy I ever really watched and enjoyed was The Cosby Show? I certainly know that British comedy can be very funny....but as I say....in spite of the fact that I am half American, I have probably not seen enough American comedy to make a judgement. I actually quite enjoyed The Cosby Show....but I have a lot more knowledge of British comedy.

i like some British comedy extra suitable than some American comedy and vice-versa. I do locate it exciting that the yank marketplace can not seem to tolerate something non-american for long, however. Incidently, to the above poster: How can the yank workplace be brisker? The British one ran for 2 sequence and a Christmas particular, formerly they wrapped it up, so it did not replace into stale. i like: The workplace (the two), wealthy corridor, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, movies with Ben Stiller, Peep instruct (Mitchell & Webb) and a brilliant variety of others from the two factors of the Atlantic!

Hi Lisa, how are you? In answer it's got to be British all the way. Some good american comedies like Frazier,Friends are good, but most seem to be over silly trying to get as many laughs as possible. ;)

Listen to all these lame shows you guys mension. While i do respect british humor, i atleast expect american comedy to get some respect too. I mean come on, we have FAMILY GUY! Chappelle show, mind of mencia, goerge lopez, king of queens, the soup, the simmsons etc... The only reason these guys are siding with british comedy is becuase thats all they know, the american shows these guys mensioned are so old and played out. So, the only show i've come to know and love in british comedy is the allen partradge show, becuase thats all i ever got to get into besides accouple of other shows. Anyway, American comedy isn't just something you can turn your back on, just becuase you guys saw accouple of lame shows thats american doesn't mean american comedy is lame. With so much crap going on in america, theres so much to joke on. C'mon now.

British
They actually know how to laugh at themselves. The Americans take themselves too seriously and are very easily offended.
