Yeah, well, too bad this isn't a few years ago. And if they had traded Milledge for Willis 2 years ago, you would have complained your way through his +5 ERA 2007 season, and cried when Milledge hit 25 HR in 650 AB's with the Marlins.

The truth is, the Mets DO need a catcher. They have Castro right now, that's it. And the Mets DO need outfield depth. They have Beltran, Moises "the anti-iron man" Alou, and some nice, but not complete players like Endy, Gomez, and previously Milledge. Church is definitely a better hitter than Milledge and should get a decent number of at bats this year.

Remember back when all it would have taken was a Milledge/Heilman combo to snag Willis and then two years ago at the deadline when Oakland was ready to flip Zito for the same package?!

It's okay though...instead of adding a front-line pitcher for Milledge (who I still think is going to be awesome and should have been a key cog in any package for Santana/Haren/Blanton/Bedard) they added a good game-caller with no offensive chops and an OF, who honestly is probably trade bait or just a place holder until Gomez and/or Martinez are ready to take the spot.

Poor Endy Chavez...that dude can't catch a break. The Mets trade Milledge and bring in another OF.

Milledge is a headache. I could not get him off the team fast enough, if I was running the Mets. If I was another team, I would not touch him with a 10 feet pole. This trade for the Mets was addition by subtraction.

i completely agree with you. i dont understand what the hell they were thinking. to think of what we could have gotten before this stupid idiodic trade. exactly why the hell do we need an of when milledge is one anyway, and some average catcher. im so mad.

Lastings' trade value was higher prior to last year. He got a little exposed and now they're paying the price for their over-confidence in him.
