Hi. I'm looking for acting websites that have auditions for films(preferably in the Chicagoland area) that are 100% free. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

The only one that is completely free and legit is actorsequity.org - clik on casting call. However, as a non-equity member you can't go to all of those auditions, only some. Other than that, you won't find any that are completely completely free and legit.

You can search on backstage.com for free in the casting search area BUT you can only see part of the info unless you subscribe. Searching for free has some benefits, you can see if there's anything there that makes it worth it for you to subscribe. Also, if you're only interested in theatre you can usually see the theatre's name and just look up the theatre's site and get the audition info on your own.

Actorsaccess.com is another site where you can set up an account for free, look at audition info for free, but the fee comes in when you want to submit for auditions where they require you submit yourself electronically (like emailing a headshot and resume). If you search and find that there are a lot of auditions here for you then consider subscribing to showfax. It's a service that provides sides for your auditions when they're made available so you don't have to go driving all over town to get them. It's only $68 per year and gives you access to a whole year of unlimited electronic submissions on actorsaccess. Since you can set up an account and search auditions for free, you can first try it out and see if it's worth it for you (if there's that many auditions in your area). All of these sites / services are industry standards. They come from companies that have been in the business for a long time and are to be trusted unlike a lot of these fly by night sites that make false promises and take your money.

If you're serious about getting into acting, you'll check these out. Before you do that however, you should consider getting into classes if you're not already. A good actor prepares before they audition.

Good luck,
Marianne

There are several acting websites which are legitimate.
It's the casting calls that users post that may be illegitimate.

One of the best websites to visit is Craigslist.
This is because Harvard and other surrounding universities have students frequently casting non-paying roles. They will usually feed you and hopefully give you a DVD of your work to begin assembling your demo reel to submit to an agent, who will in turn get you work.
Remember, an agent WANTS you to work, because if you are making money, then so are they.
If you are making nothing, neither are they.

(another non-paying film role, GREAT EXPERIENCE!)

(they have a chicago casting section)

http://casting.backstage.com/
(this is a website i have not tried, though have heard of it)

I am not an actor though I do know the in's and out's of the business.

I suggest submitting for non-paying roles.
HIGHLY SUGGESTED.

This doesn't have to do with your question, but if you're in Chicago, take advantage of some of the wonderful training opportunities:

Steppenwolf Theatre - www.steppenwolf.com
Second City - www.secondcity.com
AVI Studios - http://tvistudios.com/classes/chicago.asp
Chicago Actors Studio - http://www.actors-studio.net/index2.html

Also, check out this resource for Chicago-based actors - www.chicagoactor.com

I agree with Lisa about film. Looks around for casting notices for student, short and indie, non-paying, non-equity films to begin building your resume and gaining experience.

Good luck!

Dont believe web content. ok so first you want adventure. Take drama on your junior college, audition for community commericals(attempt craiglist), then once you come back to extreme college take drama there, too. you'll very probable want an agent i can digital mail you some on your area in case you want, yet you'll want professionally taken images, so that you provides you them to brokers, so they comprehend what you seem as if. in case you dont comprehend the position to get them bypass to google and attempt to kind in professional photographer in ______<----the position you stay and note what comes up:) undergo in concepts you dont employ an agent, they'll choose you in the adventure that they prefer you, then they receives you auditions. sturdy success! digital mail me in case you want better data. very well wish i helped:)
