I just found out that I am 4 1/2 weeks pregnant due july 23rd, I have "night" sickness, and really really bad mood swings, which is putting a strain on things...Is there anything I can do to change this. From your past or present experiences is there anything that really helped you. A hot bath? massage? music? Please help

They have something you can buy online or at Motherhood MAternity called pregnancy pops. They help with the sickness. Milk also helped me.

I also had very bad morning/night sickness with my first pregnancy. Something the Dr told me that helped a lot was not to drink fluids while eating. Wait until after eating to drink fluid. I don't know why but this really helped me. As for mood swings....whatever you usually do to de-stress should help. Your hormones will be all over the place until the baby is about a year old so try to slow down!

Congratulations!

I can't help with the mood swings, but the sickness I CAN help with. There is a product available at CVS and other pharmacies called Sea Bands - there are other products that are similar, but they are FAR less superior and you will be unhappy with them. These are wrist bands that work on the concept of accupressure. They are about $10 for a pair, and are completely drug-free. Most people use them for motion sickness, but they work great for ALL types of nausea, including the kind resulting from pregnancy sickness and anaesthesia. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!

For the morning/night sickness try sipping ginger ale or ginger tea. Ginger will settle your stomach and make you feel better.

The mood swings will get better as you go along....just hang in there - it's part of the fun?

Massage and music always help.

Morning sickness begins around week 6 of pregnancy, peak during week 8 or 9 and wane after week 13.The main cause of morning sickness is a combination of issues related to the chemical changes your body is going through. With my first child, I had morning sickness right after I ate for the first time on any given day, no matter what time of day it was. The first thing I would eat would come straight back up. Finally, I decided I just made myself miserable by trying NOT to be sick and I just gave in to it. I would eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and let 'er rip. Then I would eat something else.

Drink salty chicken broth (made with chicken bouillon cubes). This will really help to settle your stomach. It always did for me. Aromatherapy can be helpful in calming your mood. Try taking a warm (not hot) bath with lavender oils. Stress is really bad for your baby, so you should do your best to relax. Congrats on your new baby, hope everything goes well in your pregnancy.

My OB prescribed me Meclazine- it was sooooooo awesome... It was (i think) really for motion sickness but it took away my "all day" sickness in a heart beat! I will get pregnant 4872184 more times as long as I can get some meclazine! LOL! So ask your doctor if there's anything you can get prescribed!!!!

also- gingerale helps-- because of the ginger =)

and congrats!! get ready for the most awesoem 9 months of your life!

I lived on saltine crackers, ginger ale and these candies that I found at Motherhood Maternity (the clothing store) called Preggo Drops (or something like that lol). They are just hard candies that are flavored but I would have died without them!! Good luck and i hope you feel better!!
