Life is not cruel, it just is. Bad and good things happen and in order to make individual sense of them we personalise events even when they do not 'happen' to us. I think what we mean is that we expect some sort of natural justice to prevail; why is it so often people who already have massive problems that real s..t seems to happen to; why do we not get what we want when we want it?; why do less talented people than us or our friends get the breaks? and so on. The truth is most of the time time we get more or less what we hope for but there are times when we go through a real trough and seem unable to achieve anything and others do. The solution is to accept that life is a journey and we have to learn things from it so we can better deal with adversity when it strikes. Your reward will be understanding yourself and others so that you will make a difference and even if your name is forgotten what you did and said will continue to have an effect. People remember and pass on to their kids that they once had a teacher/friend/boss/colleague/cousin et al who opened their eyes to something important that both changed their life and they never forgot. What you said is what matters and in the end if you are true to yourself it will matter. YOU can make a difference.

Life has cruel moments in order for you to better appreciate the joyous ones. The world requires balance...how would we know heaven if there were no hell to compare it to? Would we strive to achieve happiness if we knew that misery was not the alternative? Would anyone bother to help anyone else if nobody could ever sense true distress in others? It is the age-old question of why an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good higher being (God, to some) would allow an evil counterpart to exist.

The concept of cruel is a human creation. Life is just life. There is no good without bad. Each is measured against the other.

Life is not always cruel. There must have been some good things in your life at some point. We always seem to dwell on the negative not the positive. Try to find at least one positive thing each day. Good luck.

Yes, life can be cruel some times. i do not know the reason why but i can tell you that if you did not experience the bad times you could not fully appreciate the good times. once you have overcome these difficulties you feel truly fulfilled and happy,so never give up and never stop trying.

Because people are stupid and mean... with a pinch of greed and arrogance thrown in there. Stir for seven minutes at a normal pace before the mesh of life turns into a pasty pit hole of deprivation and carnage, toss in some beefy war to give the whole thing a meaty taste, bake for a few thousand years and let it cool for five minutes before digging in.

Because people want what they want and then some regardless of any thought to who they are hurting. In turn mild people have to resort to this method just to get anything.
And so the circle continues.
UNTIL someone is brave enough to speak out.

It isn't. It's just not fair sometimes. Life is like an ocean swell. Just hang on and you'll catch a wave.

Wouldn't it be nice if everything just went the way we wanted. If that were the case I would have had a job 6 months ago instead of waiting for somebody to hire me.

It is not... Its just that few things are destined to happen. All said and done, all of us are leading our lives the best way we could. Do not get bogged up by short term problems. Think long term....
