A thousand years in the future some today will be right and others will be wrong. Maybe I'm wrong and there is no God that cares what I do or how I act. In that case what I do doesn't matter and when I die I will just be dead. So why should I care what I do to someone else? If I hurt someone --In the end what does it matter.
OR there is a God that does care what I do and how I act. If I live a life that is acceptable I will have paradise for eternity and if I don't there will be hell to pay for maybe just as long.
I'm going to choose to believe the whole universe isn't just some cosmic accident and I'm going to try and not step on any toes as much as possible while I'm on this plane of existance. I go through enough hell now to not want to go through eternity living in hell. That's longer than a thousand years by the way.
You believe what you want. I'll live like there is a better existance after this one. And I'll try to make it there. If you bet there is no God and you are wrong. By the time you find out you are wrong it will be too late.

Is mythology your hobby? Why do you care so much about making feeble attempts to deny the reality of religion? You should be wondering where your concern is coming from. I, for instance, think that some popular music is absolute garbage, but I don't spend one minute of my time worrying about it or trying to convince other people that it's garbage. It just isn't important to me. So why do people like you expend so much effort trying to shoot down religion? It makes no sense.
Cape verdear soul: It sounds as if you are some sort of teacher. If teachers are stepping outside of their area of responsibility to try to turn children away from their spiritual beliefs, then you are a huge part of the problem in our society today. Shame on you. Keep your politics out of the classroom. Parents trust you to prepare children for life. You are violating that trust.

People like you already do that and thanks to our christian religion based form of government are free to do so. ALL of your precious secular rights are a direct result of christian beliefs. Oh, these beliefs have managed to stick around better than two millenia so far, it remains to be seen if athiests can manage to not insult people bad enough to not survive this decade.

That's a good way of looking at it.
I've often said one day someone will find a book on wherewolves and decide they should worship them.
