SMCC is an excellent school. We are very fortunate to have so many good CC's in S.California with very high transfer rates to the top institutions in the state.

Other great schools in So Cal are: College of the Canyons, Pasadena CC, Pierce College, etc

Most of these schools even have a "transfer alliance" with UCLA in which you complete the requirements at the CC, and you get a very nice priority consideration to UCLA.

Have a look at http://www.assist.org to see the transfer requirements between all California CC's and California Universities (it tells you what classes you need to take).

And here is a very cool link that shows the % admitted from all California CC's to UCLA! Santa Monica has the most, but not the highest %.

Good luck!

Yes, it is still the #1 transfer institution to UCLA and USC. The only other one in the area which comes close is Pasadena City College.

SMC is pretty good if you plan to later go to UCLA. I know several people who have done this.
