The chances of the baby having spina bifida is much greater because you have it. It you did happen to have a healthy baby, you can pass the genes along to future generations and they will suffer from it.
Now if you do have a healthy baby and on SSI, you will need a lot more money than SSI. True there are many government programs that will give assistance but the level of assistance is much less than what is necessary to fully provide for raising a child.
I see young mothers with similar health problems and the end result is the State usually removes the child from the mother because the mother can't fully provide for the baby and this takes place by age two.
Another thing to consider is if the childs father is not disabled, for a while he'll stick around but as time wears on, He's not only working but also doing child care, then he'll accuse you of faking you inability to fully mother the child and arguements start with the result, he moves on. Also even if no children are born, after the newness wears off, he will envy other men and start looking for greener pastures if you know what I mean.
To fully raise a child requires $250,000 or more during the rearing age. If you're skating by on SSI and other government programs, the child will suffer from lack of material things he or she will see other children have. No matter how much love you have, it still doesn't make that big a difference to the child. This doesn't apply to every child but I see, in my job, well over half of similar cases where the child doesn't do well in school, lies, steals, uses drugs, consumes alcohol or commits other offenses and when approached on it, their execuse was they did what they did because they were underpriviliged. Yes it's a copout but that's what they say.
We weren't extremely poor when I was being raised but it hurt. I watched others get lots of pretty new clothes when I only got one outfit, and many time it was home made by mom or ma ma. Sometimes I got hand me downs and I wasn't alway thrilled by what I had to wear but I grinned and beared it. Other girls got fancy dolls and I got the cheap plain one. They went on vacations and we went to the playground. I should have been an actress because I never let on to mom and dad how much I missed not having more and they never guessed or least wise never let me know if they did.
Mom and dad couldn't afford to send me to college although I dreamed of going. I did however take some classes to help me get a better paying job. I vowed to get my two daughters a college education so they wouldn't have to do without the things I had to do without.
Today they both make a lot more money than I do. I have a comfortable life because I have an empty nest but it took a long time to get there. My daughters are very happy with their standard of living and thank me for getting them started on the right track to financial security. My grandchildren will have a comfortable but not lavish lifestyle and I feel they will not abuse alcohol, use drugs or commit crimes.
If you want to do something useful with kids, volunteer or get a job tutoring kindergarden kids with the alphabet, counting or reading. The kids will love you for it and it make you feel like a million dollars. Every year you get a new batch and the good feelings keep piling up. Best part, if a child get unruly, you can send him home to his mother or parents.

The March of Dimes says that the causes of spina bifida are unknown, but that they may be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. So I would see a genetic counselor before making any final deicision.

In addition, I would talk to an obstetrician and to any doctors you may see who specialize in treating spina bifida to discuss this with them. Pregnancy and childbirth may affect your condition, so it would be best to make sure that you wouldn't be harming yourself by getting pregnant.

And, of course, you would need a strong support network of people. Would your partner be there for you? Do you have family and friends nearby?

Are you physically able to have a child? As a woman, I completely understand the desire to have a baby of your own. Who will care for the child though? You have to think about those things as well. Are you in a relationship?

Good luck.

This question is too hard for me to answer, but if you can't take care of it, then you should just get a puppy.
