"Deleted Answer: The american people are ignorant because the truth is NOT out where it should be. 2/3 of ILLEGAL immigrants DO pay their taxes. I know this personally because my husbands family was illegal at one point. I believe that a child who had no say so whatsoever in coming to the united states as a child should not be punished by their parents actions. The fact that they are doing well in school is proof that they will CONTRIBUTE to society and not go make trouble. Also we shouldn't be so hard on the illegal immigrants anyway. They do love their country, however in Mexico they don't have unemployment as we do or welfare. So if you are jobless your family basically starves. So to put things into perspective they either leave to the rich country next door for a better life for them and their children, OR they stay , starve, and sell chicklettes. Its the truth, most of you are so quick to judge. But if you had their situation what would you do? Really think about that one."

They do pay taxes, it is a fact. Why do they not apply for citizenship? They do but it takes YEARS for them to actually receive it. My mother in law and father in law didn't receive their for at least 20 years after they had got here. So it's not that they don't want to become citizens it just a very long process.
And back to them paying taxes here is a link that discusses that topic.

Here is an excerpt from that page :
But, immigrants aren't flocking to the United States to mooch off the government. According to a study by the Urban Institute, the 1996 welfare reform effort dramatically reduced the use of welfare by undocumented immigrant households, exactly as intended. And another vital thing happened in 1996: the Internal Revenue Service began issuing identification numbers to enable illegal immigrants who don't have Social Security numbers to file taxes.

Well now you are asking me about MY family, okay well my family has probably been living in this country longer than your family. If your family of immigrants came in the 1920's anyway. My family started here when the Spaniards came and rape my great great great grandmother,at that point my family lived in a part of Texas that Mexico and the United States fought for. So if you consider yourself for being "more american" by who is here the longest, than I'm truly more american than you are my friend.

And I do agree this should be the Mexican government's responsibility, but you know what? They don't care. That is the problem. Do you really think the Mexican people haven't tried to protest? Albeit they wen't about it the wrong way,but you want to know what happened to them. In came the Mexican army and they were all shot. This is a fact because my mother in law witnessed it happen. She was 14 years old working in a factory because her mother was run over, and her father was an alcoholic that just left her and her 6 brothers and sisters to starve. She had to go to a priest to get a fake birth certificate to be able to work so that her family wouldn't starve. Anyway students were protesting, they wouldn't let any of the other mexican's go to work. My mother in law had her clothes thrown off of her and she was thrown into a fountain because they saw she was on her way to work.

People think it is so easy, you just file and they let you in. But it doesn't work that way. Even my husband's other aunt that lives in Mexico, when her father was over here dying they would even let her come in to just visit. That to me was just ridiculous. She was going to come by herself, because she lives by herself because her husband died a couple years ago. She owns her own home and everything I don't see why they wouldn't let her in even though she went about it the "right" way.

Honey it's not "drained" because of illegals, they actually have been proven to have a POSITIVE impact. Its the war in Iraq that has bankrupted this country, we are at this point borrowing from other countries to fund. So blame that one on Bush.
http://www.infowars.com/articles/immigration/wh_reports_lauds_immigrants_positive_effects.htm
The report, prepared by the president's Council of Economic Advisers, says immigrants enhance the productivity of native-born workers and increase their earnings a significant amount, estimated at $37 billion a year.

No. Even if someone disagrees with it, it is still just an opinion. If we can't voice our opinion, they might as well shut down YA. This answer doesn't even contain offensive language. Sheesh!

Funny, illegal aliens have no tax's. They cannot be here. They cannot claim social security. They cannot participate in government programs legally. There are ways to become a citizen. Is there a reason they don't? Is it because they don't want to become a citizen but still enjoy the countryside anyway? I really don't care if they do pay tax's. They cannot vote unless they are going to break the law even more than they are by being an insurgent. I want you to ask all the people that came here from Europe during and after WWII what they think of your relatives enjoying this country without any committment except money?

No, it shouldn't have been deleted, but I feel you are wrong on all your points, except that Mexicans love Mexico. Any day of the week the cameras catch Mexicans sneaking across the border and few look like they are starving, and even the Mexican government admits that most that cross already have jobs, but want more. Mexico is a wealthy country both in natural resources and capital, but the elite and the government hold the wealth for themselves, but it is not the USA place to either accommodate those that are poor and want more, or those elite that want to export the poverty so they can retain power and have more as well

Okay then tell the other third to pay taxes also. I don't think the answer should have been deleted because this is a discussion which requires opinions. I think you had it right when you said THEIR country, which is where they should be. And as far as us being the rich county next door, it is in danger of being the drained and spent country if we keep letting illegals in.

Okay fine, blame it on the war. That America trying to solve other countries' problems for them. It goes hand in hand. Now we're trying to solve illegal's problems and continue to drain our resources. Either way you look at it. If you don;t have a LEGAL right to be here, go home..please.

It should not have been deleted. I disagree with you for the most part but you have the right to your opinion. We can not take every person into this country. The illegals we have now are straining the social services, hospitals, schools and much more. There has to be a limit to how many we can take in and support.
