whirling dirvishes WHIRL ! It looks quite bizzare to me ...am I missing something .......?

Well, I always thought that it was to escape into a state of ecstasy, but I looked up some information at the site listed below and found out that that is not why.
According to what it says on that page:
"Contrary to popular belief, the semazen's goal is not to lose consciousness or to fall into a state of ecstasy. Instead, by revolving in harmony with all things in nature -- with the smallest cells and with the stars in the firmament -- the semazen testifies to the existence and the majesty of the Creator, thinks of Him, gives thanks to Him, and prays to Him. In so doing, the semazen confirms the words of the Qur'an (64:1): Whatever is in the skies or on earth invokes God."
While I don't completely understand...at least that is the explanation that is offered...

No, its just for festivals , it needs some training to be able to do it , and men are dressing some colored large skirt , so when they start to dance or turn in circles , so it makes a nice color circles,

I dont know why some people related it to religion , bcoz it has nooo relation to Islam ,

Actually the explanation kumara gave is correct. They do that in Turkey too I think, not just in Egypt.
