I think I saw the main motivation behind this hoax last night when an energy company said they were going to add a charge to consumers to find alternative energy. Just another tax!

What you're suggesting is that you can't be an environmentalist unless you also believe that cars and computers should be completely phased out. Do I really have to explain to you why we don't believe that?
There is no political opinion you can have where there isn't some form of "hypocrisy." How about this.
Republican hypocrisy:
Believe the individual should not recieve welfare money at the expense of the rich but should have personal accountability and survive in the job market by merit alone. But they believe corporations should recieve subsidies in the millions.
Republicans care about immigration because they want to protect American jobs, but they support a company using offshore outsourcing??? The reverse goes for Democrats.
They believe that abortion is wrong because innocent life should never be taken in any circumstance, but they have no problem with civilian casualties in wars where possibly millions of innocent young children have died.
That's the tip of the ice berg.

Oh wait wait, I forgot that you're waiting on and answer that you agree with to select as Best Answer. What i Meant to say was:

You're right, all these loony left wing lunatics are only using global warming as a hoax to trick the united states into entering a new world order in which we all have a standard set of industry strangling communist legislation because that is their utlimate goal and they actually don't care about their grandchildren's inheritance of the planet but rather they want to hurt their grandchildrens ability to find a job or whatever. Man, I'm so glad there are guys like us and Dubya here to battle these whackos ;)

It is not hypocrisy, I need to use it for my job. No one is asking everyone to stop using anything or driving somewhere or doing anything. It would be nice if we could have cars made in this country that get better gas mileage, wouldn't it? Or better yet, ones that don't use gas at all? How about appliances that use less electricity? Something that uses less energy to run costs less to run. Sounds good to me. AND it's better for the environment. The longer we pollute it, the longer and more expensive it will be to clean it up...

Why make the large leap to lunacy?

I use a laptop than can run hours off a Lithium battery, so I seriously doubt the carbon footprint is huge, and my power provider gets most of their power from hydro-electric.

You want to try again?

A computer has no carbon footprint. Most electricity is inductive. Capacitors oppose inductors. Computers are primarily capacitors, and as such, they actually increase the power factor, reducing the current draw.

How to compare the computers output to the massive amounts of crap spewed out by manufacturers. Get real. How can you deny that what we have put in the air, water and ground isn't going effect this planet. You know Earth. The place we call home.
