I honestly don't know why anyone would want a diamond after learning the truth about the diamond traded. Certification doesn't mean anything and can be faked too easily. But then I don't understand why people wear real fur either. I guess some people just don't care or don't see how even our smallest choices in life can add up to make positive or negative changes in the world. If you must have a diamond, get a vintage diamond from an antique store and get it reset.

I don't wear diamonds because I heard there's a lot of sweat shop labour involved in that trade.
Slaves working 18 hours a day with no breaks, no lunches, and a very little pay and also their measly wages being skimmed.
Most of them have dies from exaustion.
I heard some of the workers are underprivalged children.
I also heard diamonds are bad luck, and since there is sweat shop labour involved in the diamond trade, there's a lot of blood, sweat, and tears of these slaves.
Besides, diamonds are nothing but charcoal underground.
Not only that, there's a lot of $hanky whores that use ugly guys out of their money who love diamonds more than anything.

The Diamond Industry is highly controlled. The diamond mines are capable of producing mass quantities of these gems. Diamonds would, then, become quite affordable. It's a control issue. So, when we hear about blood diamonds, we are appalled. But, blood diamonds would not exist if other people were not greedy and controlling of the amount of Diamonds produced. One behavior triggers another behavior.

A blood diamond, sometimes also referred to as a conflict diamond, are diamonds that are mined in the war torn sections of Africa. The leaders of the mining operation are militia and rebels, and the proceeds from the blood diamond mining is used to fund the conflict and war. There is huge abuse of human rights here, and entire villages and communities have reported to have been either killed or enslaved to be diamond mining slaves.

Some women don't care how they get their diamonds. I remember hearing that Lindsay Lohan shopped at a jewelry store without a care while people were protesting the sale of blood diamonds outside. But it's Lindsay Lohan, so I don't expect little things like slavery to matter to her.

All on this post agreed with not wanting ,blood diamonds, but still to many women in this country do not care where they come from and keep on buying them. I am glad that so many on this forum understand the suffering diamonds cost the people of Africa.

Aside from blood diamonds and the fact that the diamond market is completely manipulated by a few groups controlling the supply, the biggest absurdity of diamonds is this:
The fewer flaws a diamond has, the more valuable it is.
Unless it has NO flaws, because then it's artificial!

I never liked diamonds, and still don't. I got to know someone from the Congo, and it was horrible to hear what had happened to his country because of the lust and greed for diamonds. I don't understand the allure, or how you can stand them if you know the evil perpetuated to get them.

I agree with you 100%.
Unfortunately, there are many people who could care less about what goes on in the diamond trade.
