Till recently my blood pressure was usually low around 100/60 but
in past few days it goes up to 170. Doctor said that I should try to rest, but this does not seem to help much. Any advice?

Preeclampsia
Also referred to as toxemia, preeclampsia is a condition that pregnant women can get. It is marked by high blood pressure accompanied with a high level of protein in the urine. Women with preeclampsia will often also have swelling in the feet, legs and hands. Preeclampsia, when present, usually appears during the second half of pregnancy, generally in the latter part of the second or in the third trimesters, although it can occur earlier.

There is really not a whole lot you can do about pregnancy induced HBP, I have this to. Before I got pregnant my BP was always normal.
My doc just told me to try and do low impact exercise (walking), this relieves stress and lowers your BP.
Also, rest and relax as much as you can. I know it is hard, but take advantage.
Try to stay away from greasy and fried food.

Get plenty of potassium and calcium. My doctor put me on 2000 mg. of calcium per day to help my blood pressure. Also get plenty of protein in your diet to help prevent toxemia. If you can find it, read the book, The Brewer Medical Diet for Normal and High Risk Pregnancy.

You have to rest, to prevent preeclampsia. Just relax and talk to your doc about other options. that is pretty high BP.

Do all you can to stay calm and relaxed. They may end up putting you on bed rest, or inducing you early if you cannot regulate it.
