I have these little flies all over my houseplants. My hubby threatened to throw them all out (they are all over the place).
There has got to be something I can do to get rid of them?
I even tried not watering them for a couple of weeks, but the flies are still there!

If the flies are white you have white fly and it will take a few applications to rid them... either a spray or spray the soil so the plants take it systemically If they are small black ones they are probably Fungus flies. Scrape the top layer of soil off the pot and aerate it with your fingers and add a mixture of soil with equal sand ( Sand box not beach) Slow down on watering and use a fine spray of insecticide or insecticidal soap. Throw the old soil in the trash not the compost

could be soil gnats, in that case the solution would be to take them outside (on a warm day) shake off all the old soil, wash of the roots in cool water, and repot in fresh soil. If the little flies are black, they are gnats, if they are white, they are whiteflies., which can be extremely difficult to control. Spraying with Safer Insecticidal Soap helps.
