I just bought 2007 Salomon Arnie 5000 for 180 USD, but I didn't realize it is a freestyle snowboard.
Do you guys think it will still be okay for a normal user? I haven't done any freestyle yet.

I would say that the size is good for your height and weight, but the freestyle board may have positives and negatives.

The good part about a freestyle board is that it has less (or zero) setback than a free ride board and typically a true twin shape. This might encourage you to become a truly bi-directional rider as there is no real advantage (in the board) to riding either direction. This would really help your switch riding. It might be a problem in deep powder.

The other part of the freestyle board would be the flex. These boards typically have a lot of flex so they really pop. This might be OK if you are riding in the rough and not trying to go really fast. It might be a problem on groomed runs or going really fast as a soft board will chatter more in the turns.

I think it will probably be OK - a soft board is definitely an advantage when learning - it is only when you really start carving and applying a lot of edge pressure that you need a stiffer snowboard.

Good Luck

Yeah it will be ok for just cruising around. The Arnie is actually a very good board for pipe riding, and because of that is actually slightly stiffer than many freestyle boards. As for pipe riding you need a board to be a bit on the stiff side so you can carve aross the walls of the pipe. So it will handle better than many Jib/freestyle boards and you could even get away with riding it in powder, Good Luck.
