Question for Indians?

Question

Why should there be reservations when all Indians were treated poorly by the British for hundreds of years no matter what caste? All Indians became free in 1947, why should some get special treatment based on something that may or maynot have happened in prehistory? if people can question the existence of Ram, the Mistreatment of the so called lower castes can also be questioned for lack of scientific proof! If their are individual cases now, who's stopping the Govt. from arresting the offenders? If someone didnot discriminate themselves why should they be punished for what may or maynot have happened thousands of years ago?

USA has affirmative action because there were official discrimination policies in Free USA. The Govt is paying for it. But the Free India which came into existence in 1947 had no official policy of discrimination in Law. What then should be the grounds for reservation. If at all free India has discriminated officially against the "upper castes"!

everybody is aware about history what i'm asking about is it's legality in law!

the only brown sahib i can think of is Ambedekar!

I fully agree with your opinion.There is discrimination against the upper caste in India and that too , in FREE India.It's a shame to so called Equality as enshrined in the Constitution of India.

The reason behind is sheer Politics , which is largest Industry in this country.The amount of money spent officially as well as unofficially under the HEAD "POLITICS" is more than the total sum spent on Agricultural development in India.....knowing fully well that we are basically having an Agricultural Economy.
Such is our fate !!! I simply pity .There's no sign of any reversion of the misdeeds in discrimination in India.

I fully agreed with The Capitalyst. Even after the Govt had taken steps, in many villages the caste fights are happening . The lower caste people are treated very badly by the said high caste people. In the older times a particular caste people were the learned persons, and so they dominated everyone. And now it has changed. Because of the RESERVATION everyone has a chance to study.And still it is necessary in India. India still has a long way to go . Prople shoulf have the awareness not to worship the high caste group .. And I also think the reservation should be based upon the economy also.

India is a very ancient country & was a sucessful state in past its system was well organised & everybody enjoyed freedom, as per the work or the profession the people were divided into different classes Vashya, bharamin, Kashatrya, & shudra
but as the British rule got powerful roots everything was messed up, & everybody was exploited except the buttlers.
when we got independance the economical condition was not good for lot of classes, weavers, fishermen, carpenters, cobblers,cleaners even the framers,so contitution decided that we should reserve something for all these people so that they too get economical stability & come up & enjoy the equal status, & remove this reservation after 20 -30 years( m not sure about the time span).
now if the reservation needs to be done then it should be done only on the bases on economical status not on the basis of caste or class.
ramadaus is gone crazy..he should be thrown out of power he is no good, The doctors at A.I.M's are fighting for good, & I belive the common people( public) should support them as they are fighting for us,
If we have good doctors means good health, least ailments, which means more work, hence better ecomony.

I am not against so called S.C's & S.T's being doctors or engs, but I am against unskilled, incapable, proffesionals ( "no offence plz") but its a bitter truth

If somebody is capable 'll get the place with out reservation,
so people come up with ur hard work not reservations,& think yourself as an Indian first then something else,eliminate all the differences,they are no good. Its time to be united & to work for one cause prosperity, abundance,

suck the muppets , wimps, and politicians.
Sri lanka is facing civil strife for such action , malaysia is on boil. In india u will high cast war groups, high cast part y and their armed wings doing what the other militant groups are doing.

The deprived indians who have migrated will finance such armed groups. like Lankans abroad are finanacing tamil tigers
