Well, it can be. I just made a very nice label for my toilet. Since I named it Mohammed, I though it appropriate for it to have a name tag.
I expect that tomorrow morning, after I take my morning constitutional, I will be very peaceful.
And Mohammed will have a very tasty breakfast.

When have religions been a peaceful organization? Heard of the Crusades? The KKK was a religious sect. Members of the Germany and Japanese armies had their "chaplins" the same way our army has. The Protestants and Catholics in Ireland hated each other based solely on religion. Perhaps the closest to peace are the Buddhists. Every group has its extremists.

You have to separate the "religion" from the way some people interpret it.

You could ask the same question of Christianity if you look back on the history of the followers of that religion and what they did at various times in the name of Christ (inquisition).

Religious extremism, no matter what the name of the religion, is an enemy of peace.

Actually Islam is a religion of peace. It's the radicals that take it to an ugly level. Don't take what the extremists do as a generalization. It says in the Quran that killing in the name of Allah is against His law...especially women and children.

No religion is perfect. Every religion has those people who take it too far and claim things in the name of their religion that their religion wouldn't condone.

As a Christian I am often embarrassed when I see other Christians blantantly judge others for being homosexual or for not practicing in the same way they do when the Bible clearly says that it is not up to us to do the judging. Every religion has people who practice it that make it look bad.

Islam, when practiced according to it's teachings is a very peaceful and tolerating religion.

People, unfortunately, are not peaceful or tolerant. Extremists have skewed the world's perception of Islam the same way that extremist Christian who march around screaming about God hating homosexuals skew society's perception of all other Christians.

The actions of a portion of people belonging to a certain category do not demonstrate the feelings, thoughts, and beliefs of an entire religious sect.

No way!! Are you kidding me! They are all about blowing people up and killing themselves. I missed the peace part. And its because of crazy nuts like that that the world can't have peace. Because when we try to be peaceful they come over here and smash a couple of buildings down. Thank you soooooooooooo much for being like the first person to see that.

It's supposed to be, but unfortunately it's practised by a bunch of INSANE people who think that the way to solve the world's problems is to murder an innocent woman. I think people should be banned from practising any kind of religion unless they are peaceful. These people are taking things too far. Freaks.

Is Islam really a religion of peace?

Evidently not.

It's the extremists that are the problem...when you take extremists into consideration, could any religion be considered a "religion of peace"?
