The "Hardware and Software Guide" dated Nov 2004 on page 121 states:
"Each notebook memory slot supports one 256-MB, 512-MB,
1024-MB, or 2048-MB DDR2 SODIMM memory module."
But the manual also states: Max 2 GB ram.
I really hope the manual is wrong due to it's 3 years old.

I've checked all the normal memory configurators but they only give you the standards answer, 2GB.

**I'm really interested in if anyone has actually tried to upgrade to 4 GB.**

The laptop is a P4 3.6, 256 MB dedicated ATI x600 video card, 60 GB 7200 hard drive so it has much life left.

"the Compaq Presario X6000 takes the PC2-3200/4200 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Presario X6000 to up to a maximum of 2.0 GB Memory"

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! :)

Keep in mind that manuals are often written to be used with several related models. So while the manual mentions "each memory slot", your model may actually have only one; multiple slots may exist only on more expensive models than yours. So one slot times 2,048 MB gives you 2 GB memory capacity...
