not bad for Mets - they needed a catcher, and Schneider is quality (by current standards - there are very few talented catchers left) and Church has upside.
I think the Mets blew an opportunity to move Milledge over a year ago - there was a lot more interest in him then; he didn't perform so great in his chances in 07, so the price came down - but who know, in a new scene, he may live up to that potential.

I'm a little surprised that Milledge's stock dropped so far. On the other hand, he didn't do much to help himself, getting injured, not performing well for more than a stretch at a time, behaving badly off the field, not hustling...hmmm, maybe I'm not that surprised. I like Church's potential, so him for Milledge is almost a wash, he just didn't have the notoriety. I don't know what they're going to do with three catchers, so I assume that Estrada will be gone. There was some catch there about if they don't offer him arbitration he's a free agent. If that's what happens, this can be looked at as Mota and Milledge for Schneider and Church. If nothing else, it's addition by subtraction.

After reading tons of opinions on the Mets-Nats trade I've actually started to come around.. Not only is Milledge's stock dropping, but I also think he was a bad influence around the Mets' clubhouse. I believe Minaya will try to trade Church and keep Schneider.

Ryan Church can be a pretty good player, but his time is running out. He's a good 4th OF on any team. Schneider is going to split time with Estrada most likely. He has a better throwing arm compared to Estrada whos covetted for his offense.
Good trade for both teams. Milledge on the Nats fits into their long term plan.

Stupid trade for a trade's sake. They are probably going to pass them along in another trade. Milledge was too much of a dick, they couldn't put up with him anymore. Says a lot about the Washington head office down there. Really going after the class acts.

Milledge is a headache. I could not get him off the team fast enough, if I was running the Mets. If I was another team, I would not touch him with a 10 feet pole. This trade for the Mets was addition by subtraction.

Milledge is worth more than Church and Schneider.
Met's need starting pitching... They traded for Johnny last week to cover the catcher spot left by Paulie, so why trade for another catcher?
Met's should've used Milledge as bait for starting pitching like Haren, Blanton, Bedard and the (VERY LONG SHOT) Santana. I know its going to take more than Milledge for these starting pitchers but he would have been a cornerstone piece for these trade talks.
You gotta love Omar and his bonehead trades.

Church is much better then peopel think - the NAts didn't use him right. I think he'll surprise a few people. Milledge may be a product of Mets hype. So he may not be the incredible propsect everyone thinks he is. Only time will tell.

I am not a Lastings Milledge fan because I believe he is a "loose cannon" waiting to explode. With that being said, he is still a good player with good upside potential, I just wouldn't want him on my team.
